Jodhpur Desert Resort: Reggie's Camel Camp

Desert Sunset with Jeep and people in Jodhpur Rajasthan India

As we landed in Jodhpur, I had only one request, to finally see the sand dunes of Jaisalmere. And to hopefully stay at one of the desert resorts I've been researching. Unfortunately, the hubby wasn't keen on travelling another 300 kilometers just to show me sand. So we compromised and lucky for us, we found the perfect place to get my sand on - Reggie's Camel Camp, a Jodhpur Desert Resort, in Osian. I also got to pet some really pretty camels which made my day.

For some reason, every time I googled Jodhpur Desert Resorts, I'd never come across Reggie's Camel Camp. We were, by chance, pointed to the resort by the hubby's friend who is a polo player. We honestly didn't expect to experience what we did because this place was beautiful. It also happens to be owned by the Royal Family of Jodhpur.

Reggie's Camel Camp is located in Osian which is about 70 kilometers from Jodhpur. It a desert resort which had beautiful tents, turn down service at night, a beautifully decorated lounge area, a fire pit to enjoy evening folk dance and song performance.  Also had a swimming pool and sitting area to enjoy your evenings. We loved it so much here, we have plans to go back, hopefully soon.

As we were driving up, we saw a race ground just outside the resort and we found out that they conduct camel races during certain festivals right there on the ground. So, if you're interested in tying up your visit with camel races, I'd suggest you contact them and enquire on the dates for the events.

As for room amenities, just don't expect to find a TV in the room, you won't need one. This place is a great get-away with the spouse or family without all the distractions. They have a swimming pool for guest to use. The rooms are well decorated for a tent. The washrooms are clean and comfortable. The bed is fantastically comfortable, I’d know, because I slept like a baby. The trip included a free camel ride in the evening to see the sand dunes nearby. If you aren't into camels, they do jeep safaris too.

If you aren’t staying in Jodhpur and have decided to stay here instead, the resort will be able to provide day trip options to Jodhpur possibly to see Mehrangarh Fort or to any other sightseeing places.

The staff here will make you feel like royalty. The service is impeccable. The staff are friendly and keen to chat and help you out if you require any assistance. I would have half expected sandy rooms but our tent was clean and everything else in this resort was kept clean.

Evening Bonfire and Entertainment
They have a cultural program each night with local Rajasthan singers and dances. They group is very interactive and it is a lot of fun. The troupe use very basic instrument and they gladly come up to guest to demonstrate how the instruments are played.

The lounge area was beautifully decorated. It had character and history coupled with lots of picture frames of the royal family and the bygone era. Sit here for a drink at night or an evening tea. Better yet, plan a group get together to fully enjoy the lounge and its impeccably decorated artifacts.

We regretted doing just a night halt and felt like we should have stayed longer to enjoy the place. Well, till next time I guess. I’d say that if you were planning a Rajasthan trip, Reggie’s Camel Camp is not to be missed if you’re ever into looking to experience a Jodhpur desert resort.
